The Golden Globes 2014: Worst Dressed

...and as there's always those that wow us, and there's those that underwhelm us on the red carpet.  In no particular order, here's my pick for worst dressed:

Zoe Saldana in Prabal Gurung. This dress may have been amazing, sans the messy straps

Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung. I adore Sandy, but this here? No ma'am.

Heidi Klum in Marchesa. Does she purposedly do this to herself? To be a former model and judge on a design competition, she always cease to amaze.

Hayden Panettiere in Tom Ford. I know she was voted best dressed on many sites, but I thought this look was a mess. I felt like there was too much going on.

The Golden Globes 2014: Best Dressed

Last night the Golden Globe awards was held in Beverly Hills and the star power was definitely evident on the red carpet.  Heavy weights such as Julia Roberts, Uma Thurman, Reese Witherspoon and many more took the carpet.  There were some fashion hits and definitely some fashion misses.  I was a bit underwhelmed this year, but there certainly were a few celebs I can always rely on to wow. And in no particular order, here's my vote for best dressed at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards:

Uma Thurman is perfection in Versace. Uma can never do wrong in my book

Reese Witherspoon is a vision in this teal Calvin Klein number

Olivia Wilde rocked in this emerald Gucci gown. And how adorbs is her baby bump?

Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad

Naomi Watts in Tom Ford looking simple, yet sexy

Honorable mention
Mom to be, Kerry Washington rocked in this elegant Balenciaga gown and her glow was undeniable. She radiated on the red carpet.

Mane Ideas - Rainy Days

I woke up this morning to the soothing sounds of rain hitting against my windowsill and a slight cool breeze blowing through the window.  It's the dreaded Monday and I must make my way to the office. Arghhh. I just wanted to lie in bed and take in the sweet sounds of mother nature, but I had to force myself to get up.

I found myself faced with the challenge of what to do with my hair.  I decided to keep it simple and toss on a slouchy hair.  Here are some rainy mane ideas xoxo:

The Messy Pony Tail
It's trying without trying.

Top Knot Bun
This is great if you suffer from the frizzes

The Wide Brim Hat
This hat is soo now, on trend and it's great to tuck your mane under

The Slouchy Hat (I opted for this look)
You can tuck and hide all of you hair underneath here and still look cute

Spring On My Mind - SHOESSSS

Can you tell that I am obsessed with shoes? Seriously, it's only been a few days of me launching my blog and I already have three posts dedicated to shoes.  To me, shoes is that perfect accessory that can set off an outfit, that can transform something basic into something totally chic.

As I've mentioned before, you maybe aware that I have huge feet. I was totally cursed with these size 10/11's because I do find myself limited on what I can buy. Some designers/retailers don't sell size 11 and when I do find a retailer selling my size, they often sell out as quickly as the shipment is received. For me, I have to start thinking and plan for the season ahead if I stand a shot at anything relatively cute.  If you stay ready, you won't have to get ready.

Aquazzura "Saharienne" $735
Gianvito Rossi "Metallic Leather Point-Toe Pump" $645
Christian Louboutin "Laurence" 1245
Manolo Blahnik "BB Suede 115mm" $595
Guiseppe Zanotti "Safety Pin Leather & Suede" $995

Guiseppe Zanotti "Ankle-Wrap T-Strap" $1350

And now I can die. I'm in total shoe heaven.

Trends I Hope Died in 2013

There's a few trends I hope died in 2013 that just angers me each and every time I see them. Let's start with:

The Body Con Dress - Deep Sigh.  I don't even have the energy in me to address how much I hate this trend now.

The Wedge Sneaker

Timberlands - this one hurts my heart because I've always been a fan of Timberlands, but since Rihanna and Kanye West reintroduced them, it's been overkill

90s Grunge

Any item of clothing with Obey on it

Forever 21 Launches Premium Leather Shoe Collection

Today Forever 21 launched their premium leather shoe collection and initially I was super excited until I saw the line.  The shoe line is WACK. I usually like Forever21 shoes and think, wow, if only they were higher quality.  But this collection looks like something from 21 Jumpstreet, a bad Debbie Gibson video, bad fashion from Saved by the Bell. I just can't get into this collection.  Let's take a look.

Kinda cute, but look at how long these joints look? I imagine the model probably wears an average size.  I wear a size 10/11, imagine how crazy my feet would look. People would think I'm a man in drag. Hell no.

These are slightly better, but still a no. Looks like something my 65 yo mother would wear thinking she's doing something, when she'd be doing nothing at all.

Finally a pair I could see myself wearing, but for $70. No thanks

Here we go once again with the long ass shoes. Does Forever 21 realize this style isn't flattering on anyone wearing larger than a size 6.

I'm almost starting to feel bad ragging on nearly all of the shoes. So I choose not to post a few of the pairs.  But these, I like - but feel like they're about 3 seasons late.  They look exactly like the shoes Robert Downey Jr. wore in the movie Back To School.  I'm all for vintage and retro throwbacks, but these feel extra dated to me.  I tried to be nice.

Normally, I would like a shoe like this, but haven't damn near every mass chain designer knocked off this look for the past 8 seasons? Deep sigh. Come on Forever 21, you may be budget clothing, but you usually carry cool pieces.

I have to log off now because my blood pressure is too high from being angry at the hot mess premium collection that was produced by F21. I had such high expectations and I adore F21 for offering trendy affordable clothing, but this here….a complete let down. What do you think?

Top Five Stylish Snow Boots

First and foremost, happy new year to everyone. Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying the new year.
Now moving on….where the flip did all this snow come from?  Seriously?!  Out of nowhere, we got hit with almost a foot of snow, ughh.  Business continues and many of us had to trek our way to the office this morning.
I’m not too much of a winter/snow girl and I didn’t know what to put on my feet that would be functional and stylish.  Now just because there’s 72 feet of snow out, that doesn’t mean I can’t look cute.  I ended up going with a rugged chic look, pairing my Rudsak jacket with a pair of black constructs aka Timberlands and viola.  Problem solved.  Wayy before Rihanna, Kanye West (wearing "Constructs" below) and Scott Disick reintroduced the Timberland trend, back in the day, Timberlands were the go to boot when I was in high school.  And kids have the habit of renaming things. IG. The Timberland Premium work boot was known as “Constructs”, the Timberland Green and Black Field Boot was known as “Beef and Brocs” (short for Beef and Broccoli), because that’s what the colors resembled.  We were soo damn cool and creative back then.

But anyway, here’s my top five stylish snow boots to get you through the winter:

La Canadienne “Caleb” $395
Like how dope are these boots? They look like regular riding boots, but have traction, lining and waterproof. I’m soo in love!! I say yes to the Caleb boot.

Michael Kors “Aaran” $245
Aww man, just when I thought I was done after the Caleb, I spotted these gems.  The gold buckles, quilt design and fur lining is EVERYTHING!  Who said you have to sacrifice style for comfort and function!!!

Sorel “Tofino Cate” $150
I’ve owned the Joan or Arc boot and let me tell you, if you live somewhere like in the middle of the North Pole or on some fake expedition in Antarctica, get the Joans, but for your average snow fall these are the perfect stylish Sorel's to own.  They are a lot slimmer and less bulky.
Christian Louboutin “Sur La Pony Spiked Napa” $1895
If you got the money to ball, you cannot pass these babies up. Louboutin Spiked Cold Weather boots --- need I say more?

Bottega Veneta “Rain & Cold Weather Boots” $390
What I love about these boots, they dub as both rain and cold weather boots.  Perfect boot for when you get to a corner and you see that questionable pile of snow slush.  You’re not exactly sure how deep so you do calculations in your head, trying to figure out “uhmmm, should I step here, or should I step there”. Well with these babies, live on the edge and jump right on it!

And that rounds out my top 5 five stylish snow boots for Winter 2014.
